Is it okay to move house now 5 months after the primary school deadline?

So we're obviously in June now and my little one is due to start reception in September.
We were living at the house we applied for schools near in January and submitted all the proof etc. She got her place in a good school but since about a week ago we have been living with my parents until we get a new place and will likely be with them for a couple of months.

I didn't realise they do a home visit so was worrying that they would have an issue that we are now no longer at that address? Or does that not matter anymore?

@babyq2456 listen to @prh47bridge and @PatriciaHolm - they are admissions experts.

Anyone saying “ooh, I expect you will lose it” is just guessing.

(I do know of a school that requires pupils to live within x km until the December of the first term or the place may be withdrawn, but it is very clearly laid out in their admissions criteria and it is that specific school, not the whole LA.)

@BoleynMemories13 ah thankyou. Are you a teacher? That is reassuring to hear haha.

Yes I am. I work in a very deprived area where movement is very common. Although, granted, that also means I have no experience of people fraudulently obtaining places at schools, as most of the schools this side of town have a bit of a reputation in terms of the clientele. We definitely don't get people fighting for places and moving specifically to obtain them here! So I can't swear your situation wouldn't be investigated, if you're at a sought after school with long waiting lists where a fraudulent application may be suspected. As long as you have proof that everything is legitimate though I wouldn't worry.

@Concernedfriend2023 Ah okay so did you let the council know? Or was it through the school

I told them both, but it was the school who asked for the documents. The school check proof of address as standard anyway, so it was just extra checks for us I guess.

You'll be fine some people are very transient and still keep the space as long as its a genuine move. I assume you are still able to get your child to school easily?

We moved between applying for secondary and places being offered, then had a phonecall from the LEA offering us a waiting list place after we accepted our second choice... so obviously we discussed we now lived out of catchment for the preferred school - wasn't an issue and was based on where we lived at the time we applied.
