How much do you pay for after-school clubs?

Hello!

Just quick question; wondering the average people pay for after-school clubs; roughly 1 hour or 1.5 hours. Just to be more specific, this is an after-school club and not after-school care.

Interested primarily in those who have children in the North West, but happy for all to input.

Thanks,

£5.50 for the morning session and £8.50 for after school.
We're in the NW.

All clubs run by external companies and last 1 hour. They’re between £70-£110ish per term. They’re very well used and there’s a big range of them.

At DD's primary one's run by the school used to be free but are now £1 a session (apparently literally paying to keep the lights on etc for the extra hour) or slightly more if use a lot of materials i.e. art. Those run by an external company are an average of £8 a session which is equivalent to similar clubs outside school.

AT DS's secondary most clubs are free but there's a couple run by external providers that are £15 a session! We live in London which may push it up.

£110 a term for one club after school, mostly run by external companies. They are 50 mins long and the term is a bit shorter than the school term, about 10 weeks. There are other clubs run by school staff which are free. We're in London.

Thank you all - really useful to know. Happy to pay the £9 per session, seems relatively reasonable (I know that others get it free) but my child really loves Computing and STEM so anything to help further their interests is fantastic!

I wouldn’t trust most of the staff at primary being able to run a STEM or computing club. I would hope an external provider can find some enthusiastic young university students to fill the spots.

And I have a DC in a state secondary. They have a lot of subs for ICT in KS3. A lot of the other staff are very poor at computing.

DC2 primary cannot even sent a properly formatted email.

This is for those who say school doing it for free. Unless you are at a exceptionally good school with no problem recruiting knowledgeable staff for ICT

Can’t say I disagree with this! Thank you for the input I appreciate it.

We had the option of a coding club at £11 a session. We don’t do it but it’s been popular especially with the boys. We pay £9 for dance, £6 for sport. The more specialist something is, the more it is likely to cost. I don’t think you can compare the cost per hour with wrap around as they will be there all week for more hours with more kids so have the economies of scale.
