We are coming to London from overseas and very new to this whole unique school (and test) system of the country, so please help :)

My boy is going to sit assessments at Eaton Manor and Newton Prep as they have occasional places. And I am not sure how competitive these schols are to get in and what kind of levels in academics they are looking for. My kid is great in maths (<1%), but just above average in English in a standardized national tests in the UK (he is attending a british internationl school outside the country) Will his ability be enough for those school? And should I prepare him for assessments (if yes, how)?

I am also a bit concerend that he is kind of on the border between extrovert and introvert and a little shy in unfamiliar settings. And one of those schools wants to put him in their same age cohort (Y3) and see how he does throughout the day. If he acts a little shy, will it have negative impact?

Would appreciate any inputs here. Fyi, his school reports are all fine.

Eaton House is advertising for pupils these days, so I would expect any DC with normal behaviour is likely to get in (unless they are very behind)

Thank you! Good to know this, but it sounds like I need to have a close look at the school when touring 😅

I think both these schools are decent, however 80% of the work to get into a top school from these is done at home. So choose the school that is right for you, as opposed to results.

Thank you Caps0218! I am not even worrying about a secondary school, but just want to get my boy to decent prep schools for now. I wonder how smart he should be to get into Newton 😬
