St Mary's Primary - good for non-religious families?

About to move to West Horsham and love the look of St Mary's Primary for my two boys, however we are not at all religious! I noticed they attend worship at the church every day, is this optional? Is it a good school for families that don't subscribe to any religion? Would love to hear about others' experiences, TIA! x

Best place to ask for schools advice anywhere in Horsham is probably Horsham Parents on Facebook.

I don't know too much about St Marys tbh, as i don't know anyone who goes there/will be gling there. There are other schools in W Horsham which have good reputations locally, eg Arunside (the head is wonderful), St John's (Catholic, but very welcoming). You will hear a lot about how lucky we are in Horsham to have great schools...to the point of becoming sick of it! (It's largely true, though!)

Horsham is very catchment based, and the schools are pretty full- are you looking for in-year or new intake? How old are your kids? If in-year, you may have to tale whatever WSCC assign (possibly somewhere like Trafalgar for infants or Greenway for juniors, both of which I believe may be unsubscribed.. could be wrong, though!)

Thanks for your reply, I will join the FB group and post on there! My kid won't be joining until sept 25 so a while to go, but deciding where to buy a house when you can't visit any of the schools is a bit of a challenge! Great to hear there are a lot of good schools around though :-)

@WalkerMum80 you definitely won't have a problem with good schools in Horsham. It really depends what you are looking for, as they all have different things going on.

There are some low birth years coming up, so pressure is definitely being eased and schools are a little easier to get into. Arunside is the most oversubscribed to the west of the town. W sussex have a catchment calculator that is worth looking at- it's very much catchment based in Horsham!

Which areas are you looking at?
