Just wondering if anyone could help.
We are relocating 50 miles away in the Summer holidays - kids will be going into Year 7 & Year 2 (Also have one in Nursery)

I was speaking to the council and they took my application for my eldest and have give him a place in the secondary school we wanted (we were so lucky a space was available as usually it’s very oversubscribed)

They told me to apply after Easter for my primary school child, which I did last week. However, I spoke to the primary school we want a few months ago and I know they are full. (It’s not the catchment school but is actually the closest in distance - our catchment school is also full)

All the over schools are over 2 miles away and do not have any straight forward bus routes plus on busy A roads. I won’t have access to a car for a while to travel. Does anyone know what usually would happen in this situation?
Of course I will go on the waiting list for the school I want but I would prefer him not to start a school just to leave eventually as it’s bad enough starting a new school as it is.

I know the place for the school we want will more likely be rejected, however, I am just wondering if anyone knows what will happen next?
Thanks

You will be allocated a school I imagine, it might not be one you want or that is convenient but I think you can get help with transport if its over a certain distance

Did you put an order of preference for schools ? When we did an in year transfer to a different LA we had to select 4, much as you do when you apply for a new primary place. We knew all ours had space so we got the top choice, our new LA said when we were applying that a spot would just be given in the nearest school with space.
id check again with the primary school as someone might have left in between

You will be offered a school somewhere. If it is more than 2 miles away by the shortest safe walking route, the council must provide free transport for your younger child. If it is more than 3 miles, they have to provide free transport for your older child too.
