Any tips for helping a child learn the key stage 2 grammar terms

Hello,
I have a degree in English literature and language, but I was not taught the majority of the grammar terms for the year 6 SATs. My older children did not take the year 6 SATs. My youngest seems not to know any of the terms. I have gone through past papers with him. I have made little flash cards with all of the terms on, and we go through a few a day.

Does anyone have any tips for helping him to retain this information? I know he will not need it after the year 6 SATs. However, he is going to really struggle in the test if he has not learnt the terms. His punctuation and spelling seem to be OK.

Thank you

Personally i would focus on other sats unless dc is getting full marks on those.
My dc got 120 on spag but its made no difference in secondary and predictions are based only on reading and maths afaik.
Othwrwise cgp books are good for practising.

Thank you, that is really useful information. I was viewing the SPAG as fairly easy marks that I do not want him to miss out on. I have a fairly capable but chronically lazy boy. If the SPAG will not really matter in terms of his predicted GCSE grades then maybe I do not need to worry so much. We have the CPG books. Thank you for your help.

If you do want to persist, looking at examples (Where's the adjective in this sentence? How can you tell it's the adjective?) is likely to be more useful than trying to memorise definitions of terms, partly because that's how the test works, and partly because it's notoriously difficult to come up with a useful definition that will actually help kids to apply that knowledge when looking at texts.

This website is quite good:
https://www.rollama.com/register/

£1 a month for families, has questions linked to past papers.

As others have said, it’s the area that is least important though - there was supposed to be a KS3 grammar curriculum that followed on but it was pulled. KS2 grammar just falls off a cliff after primary school.

Thank you very much. I will sign up for Rollama. I am just worried about sending him in to a test I know he will not be able to complete. Thank you very much for your help.
