Insights into Weston Green School Thames Ditton

We're considering this school for our DD but don't know any current parents who could give an insight. I loved it when we looked around, but it seems their numbers have been going down in recent years and we're worried it's very small and could be a bit restrictive. Can anyone offer any up to date insights in to their experiences of this school?

Hello, sorry I saw you posted a while back. I’m afraid I’m not a parent but have friends who are/have considered it and I’m in Thames Ditton. Appreciate current parent feedback would be the most helpful, however from what I understand parents are quite happy - it depends what you’re after really in terms of leavers destinations and what your child is like? I’d also ask for the most recent figures of children per class, as our last school (similar size) closed locally as not enough on the roll.
We moved into the area and had to choose a school for our boy but went elsewhere but all quite personal reasons x

Thanks so much for your response. Our child is shy/sensitive and worried about going to school so we’re looking for something nurturing. In terms of leaver destinations we’d hope for something fairly academic but of course hard to know at this age what’s going to suit them down the line. It seems WG does quite well with 11+ results? Closure is exactly our concern as it seems v small - approx 15 per year when it advertises as 30+ per year, so seems to be struggling to get the numbers and we can’t really understand why.

@somethingoriginalandclever, there are loads of preps in the area and not enough dc to fill them, the state primaries like St Paul's Catholic primary school across the road isn't full either. Plus there are all through schools like Claremont fan and surbiton high girls that offer busy parents an option to bypass 11 plus.
There is a place for small prep schools and some dc really thrive in them, WGS is getting a new Head in Sept which will help. Go on the gut feeling for your dc. Also the prep that closed in 2022 was in Walton and it was proprietor owned rather than WGS which is owned by a schools group, Bellevue Education, the CEO sent his dc to WGS.

Thank you so much, that’s very helpful and reassuring!
