Hi all, I would really want to ask your opinion. in the summertime I'm moving with my 6year old and 9 year old to Chelsea area in London (cadogan gardens). I've checked state schools around, seems like the Marlborough Primary is the closest one. Does any of you have experience with this school? or maybe I should consider some other schools around? There's also Holy Trinity just around the corner from us, but their reviews are not so promising. i would prefer to walk them to school instead of driving. I'm so confused. Thank you!

you could do what any prospective pupils parent does and visit the school/s
during term time

Holy Trinity is a church affiliated school? there are many schools in the area,
all within walking distance
do your research
Faith schools and demographics will determine your final judgement

absolutely no need to be confused, just put the parental work in

If you have 2 children, presumably you want them in the same school, so you may be constrained in where there are spaces in both years - the local authority will find them both spaces, but they don't have to be in the same school. A starting point would be to talk to the LA and see whether they have an idea where there might be 2 spaces in the same school; they can't allocate now for Sept, but they might be able to give you a steer as to where there are likely to be spaces.

Thanks all, that makes sense. Yes I would like to allocate them in one school. I’ve booked a visit with Marlborough already, but for example Christ church school doesnt offer visitation. That’s why I wanted to know experience of other parents

@annaChelseasw3 , have you spoken to the schools and asked if they have spaces at the moment for your dc? This will give you an idea if there is space later in the summer. There is no point visiting a school if it is full in all year groups as you will be added to a waiting list once you are registered living at the London address. Also some council admissions dept close between mid July and September, it can all be quite complicated. You might want to visit a private school as a back up because you can gain a place for September whilst being overseas (but an entrance test of some kind will have to be sat before a place is offered) and of course deposit / fees etc.

my children were at Christchurch, a tiny school, happy, well considered,
affiliated with Christchurch opposite, which is what faith schools require.
Good luck, whichever school, as Marlborough may be your choice!

thank you! I've actually contacted them, they said they have place for my kids, and they welcome students other faiths-non-faith too. I'll visit them all and make a decision. Thank you for your comment, it helps!

O well done ! I hope they will flourish there, a gentle, calm environment.
I used to pick mine up and visit the Royal Hospital grounds,
so they could run, rollerboot, let off steam, it being free, swimming at Chelsea Old Town Hall, where the Library is too, or in the summer take sandwiches to have in St Luke’s Gardens, walk home different ways, a happy time for us all, close to the NHM/SM, V&A, Harrods, hospitals, tubes, buses. You will be fit as everything is easily walkable.
