Hi all,
My family (husband and 2 daughters aged 4 and 2) are hoping to move to Worcester this year from London. Currently in the process of house hunting etc. We’d ideally like to be in walking distance to the city but also in short driving distance to the countryside and nice green space. We are focusing our search on the Battenhall area but would love any tips on other areas which are in the catchment for lovely state primary schools as my eldest will start reception this year. We have looked at Pitmaston Primary and although out of catchment I was told during a tour of the school that they take out of catchment children - although I’m sure there is a waiting list. Can anybody give some honest opinions about the most family friendly areas and primary schools, in particular, Pitmaston if possible. Thanks in advance.

Hello!
Pitmaston is a great school but you’d need to factor in travel time each day as it can be extremely time-intensive to cross the river during rush hour!
I would personally have a look at the following primaries: Red Hill (just off the London Road so not far from Battenhall), Cherry Orchard (the opposite side to Red Hill but still close to Battenhall) and then maybe consider looking at houses around the WR3 area. This would still mean the city centre was walkable but you’d have a bigger range of schools to choose from: North Worcester Primary Academy, Northwick Manor, Tudor Grange Perdiswell, Claines & St George’s RC.
Happy for you to message me for more information.
Good luck with your search and move!

Not sure if you have already seen this, but this is the allocation day statistics from last year, might give you an idea on which schools are oversubscribed. https://www.worcestershire.gov.uk/sites/default/files/2023-04/first_primary_schools_allocation_day_statistics_2023_0.pdf
This year’s one should be published here once the places are out. https://www.worcestershire.gov.uk/council-services/childrens-services/schools-education-and-learning/apply-school-place

If you wanted a smaller school near the edge of the city you could consider Hallow or Claines as well, I know people who have been happy with both. Hallow also feeds to the Chantry which is a well regarded high school (though further out in Martley)
