Where do I find them? Why are they so difficult to source???

I just buy chinos. Get them from Next.

John Lewis do them but they are quite thick. M and S do them and they are thinner, but they only have them certain times of year.

Ohhhh. Thank you both! I looked on both websites without seeing them, but for I wasn't looking for chinos only, or maybe it's the wrong time of the year as well. Fab advice, thanks!

DS7 has sensory issues and would rather go to school naked than wear Teflon/polyester trousers. He will tolerate the John Lewis ones though. I’ve bought them in every size up to 11-12 in case they stop making them. I’ve found they shrink in the dryer after a while though so treat them carefully!

DS will only wear jeans for similar reasons

He won't go near a tracksuit

Walks around in his pants at home

School trousers were from M&S

DS was tall with a small waist and they did cotton school trousers to fit him

Ethical Superstore do them too

Is that ecooutfitters? I got some trousers and other stuff from them, didn't hugely rate the trousers for the price - they wore through at the knees and the colour faded very quickly.

I can't remember if they were eco-outfitters, though I don't remember them fading.

To be fair I had to wash them a lot. Son is very active and messy and was still having quite a few wee accidents at that point (reception). They always ended up covered in pen, food, wee or all 3!

Update: I bought one pair of chinos from Next and one pair of cotton school trousers from John Lewis.
The chinos look really good on my slim son, but I am not sure now if they are acceptable as school trousers? They look quite similar to school trousers in any way except the colour is slightly different. But on the school website they just mention trousers need to be of a specific colour, they don't mention they need to be 'school' trousers or same shade.
The JL ones are...big...really big! My son is a tiny little thing and these trousers are very classic and look enormous on him. Luckily they have adjustable waist. I want to see if they perhaps shrink in the wash!

But at least I have two options now. Thanks everyone!

I've been buying my son the Next chinos for a couple of years now and I think they look more than smart enough.

Most children wear the classic polyester school trousers but some wear joggers... as long as they are reasonably smart I don't think the school cares much. Depends how strict the school is on uniform maybe, but if they only specify colour I'm pretty sure it will be fine.

PS cotton does tend to shrink a bit in the wash!
