A&E nurse contacting school nurse

My 9 year old has been seen in A&E 11 times for an underlying health condition. She was seen today and the nurse said when we were leaving she will be contacting the school nurse as she’s a frequent attendee what does this mean as it’s got me worried.

This perhaps isn't the best board to ask on - school nurses aren't actually linked to schools, they're just the next step after the Health Visitor, whose services stop at age 5. I'm sorry I'm not sure what it actually means but rest assured the threshold for SS involvement for anything are ridiculously high - you'll probably get a phone call, you'll explain the situation and that will be the end of it.

Any child attending A+E that frequently will flag. The hospital will write to the school nursing team who will give you a welfare call. It's nothing to worry about.

Literally that, the school nurse will get a message that you've been 11 times. This is just so they can liaise with you and the GP to see if there's anything they can do to help, maybe ensure that if you ring the GP, you can always get in, or get an appointment at outpatients expedited, or get a better, clear asthma/diabetes/crisis/pain or whatever management plan... It won't be safeguarding. It will be literally so that they can try and make your life better.

Is this affecting his school attendance or could it potentially? i've been involved in the school nursing service helping with making sure children can safely attend school. For example severe allergies, epilepsy etc. They do training for school staff.

She’s been under investigation for a few things. She’s been recently diagnosed with Coeliac disease and they think she could also have gastroesophagal reflux disease. (Not sure if that’s spelt correctly)She also has a heart condition, today she was seen as she’d injured her foot playing in the trampoline.
