Utility bills prove where you live, but can anyone tell me how child benefit payments do? Mine is paid direct to my bank, and they rarely write to me. After I moved house last year, I forgot to tell them, but the next letter to me was just forwarded, along with everything else.

They write I think twice a year. On the letter is your address. So I suppose that in providing a copy of the annual statement, that shows firstly that you are the registered carer/parent, and secondly that you live at x address. If you move you should contact them.

Child benefits, allegedly if you act within the law, tell the school that you are the adult with whom the child resides.

I wouldn't report, but wouldn't feel particularly sorry for them if someone else did.
