Sussex House or Wetherby Prep?

As the title says really…I know v little about Sussex House. It looks more geared up for entering boarding senior schools which is not what I would want for my son. Have first hand experience with Wetherby Prep but over the years, not been too happy with the academic side of things.

Would love to hear any opinions, general view on either schools. Thanks.

I'd say Sussex House is more academic. What you mentioned about being a feeder for boarding schools at 13+ is true in the past but not in the last 4-5 years. Many now sit and successful at London day schools like Westminster and St Paul's.

The best way to assess 13+ exits is to look at honorary arrivals at the schools you're interested in. Things like King's scholars, the Roll etc.

Sussex House gets more of these than Wetherby especially at the notable day schools.

hi User1502 - we are considering Wetherby Prep for our son. We are a "usual London professional" working couple and wondering if the academics are not the focus at Wetherby Prep amidst all the hype. We are not looking for the most pushy school but at the same time not one that doesn't prepare for 11+/13+ well enough i.e. kids need to be extensively tutored outside school. Any inputs will be very helpful. Thanks

Sussex house no brainer!!

We have heard from Notting Hill friends that since Wetherby Prep has been taken over by Inspired education, the school has struggled. It is a private equity school now. So many teachers have left. The remaining teachers are stretched so thin, it is impossible for them to give adequate pastoral care and maintain high standards for teaching and marking. I was also told they were paid lower than state schools and don't have a decent pension. Worrying when this is one of the most expensive schools in London.

Hello! Does anyone know if Sussex has sent offers already? Their timeline was 21st January but we got on their waitlist on Friday. Has anyone received an offer from Sussex on Friday?
