Might have a place in Yr1 at Garrads Rd (well, subject to interview). Anybody in the know? Children there? Friends with children there?

Batters,

That's worrying, from class lists on the web, it doesn't seem that there are classes with too few pupils. May be, other reasons?
So, where do they go?

irisha - how did you get on? did you like it? did you ask about the white gloves?

irisha · 07/04/2008 11:37

I liked it a lot, I really like the Headmistress at Garrads Road, and I believe that leadership defines everything. She answered all our questions very competently and thoroughly and not defensively at all (as some other heads do). I didn't ask about jeans, but mentioned the gloves gossip and she gave a laughing look, but hasn't really answered one way or another.

We are now going to see the Upper School and then make a decision (not relevant for you I suppose, don't you have a boy?). They just had an inspection fro ISI and the Head told me she's happy with the results but I'd like to see it as in 2002 there were problems with Maths in the Upper School Also, apparently they do take SATs in Upper School, so want to ask about results, just to get a feeling for maths improvement in the last 6 years.

But all in all, I am inclined to go for it. I actually like rules and procedures, a certain level of structure. I didn't think I'd ever say that but her current school is all over the place, and it makes me nervous (and she is not particulary happy or progressing well either).

What about you? Any new impressions?

We went round the Broomwood site and met the head there. We liked it although DH wants to see Thomas' and Finton so he has more to compare it with
It seemed very warm and welcoming, didn't see anything that put us off

I have a 3 year old DS and a 1 year old DD.
