School governors and teachers - action required by Chair of Govs post fab Ofsted

Our large primary school have just had another fantastic Ofsted - though report not yet published.

Dh is Chair of Govs - but hasn't been for very long, and not for an Ofsted before.

He sent huge tin of chocs in a few days ago before the inspection for staff, and has spent many hours in school, and occasionally sends flowers/cards to HT, ill staff, etc.

He has officially/publicly thanked staff at school, and will also officially praise/thank staff at next Govs mtg.

But he wants to do more to thank staff for all their hard work generally, as recognised by the inspection. At my suggestion he has got a full staff list and is going to write an individual card to each members of staff (including support staff).

Is this appropriate? Is there anything else 'official' he ought to be doing?

Is there anything informal you think would go down well/be appreciated? Anything you wish your Chair of Govs would do/say?

(We are not rolling in dosh, but don't mind spending a bob or two on something appropriate.)

(We thought about putting some money behind the bar for next staff do, but there isn't a big one this term.)

As a teacher I would be really happy with a personal thank you note what a lovely idea.

I think this should come from all governors and not Chair of Governors .. as a governor I'd think it was a bit of a power kick for a Chair to be doing this unilaterally.

It should be up to the head to determine what form of staff thanks is appropriate .. that's an operational issue, and just for the governors to approve financials.

But thanks never go amiss

check the staff room and buy them new mugs / cutlery .. maybe kettle / coffee machine

I have to say that staff rooms tend to be woefully inadequate as a place to relax IMHO and IME
