After a very rushed parents evening I was told my child has been picked for the ELS programme. The teacher didn't tell me why just that she hopes all the children in the class will
Do it at some point. Does anyone know what this is and why my child may have be picked for the first group? DC is in year 1 (5y) and still reading pink books. Have they picked the children who are 'behind'?

They have probably identified a few children who are in danger of falling behind.

ELS works in the principle of keeping up rather than catching up. So early intervention is essential and often not needed for long.

See how you can reinforce learning at home and your DC will soon increase confidence.

The teacher did say my DC confidence when answering questions in class (there are some louder children in the class). When I asked if there is anything I need to do at home to improve dc's work ect she said no. Your dc is fine. Which makes no sense to me as she has put them on the programme.
