Hello, we live very close to the school and although both my husband and I studied at uni in France we are not French and don’t speak the language anymore.
We are seriously considering the school for my DD and wanted to get some advice on the strength of English curriculum with the view of 11+ exams into London secondary schools?
Also, any tips on admissions via either lycee or fulhambillingual?
Many thanks!
PS: our key attraction is the bilingual curriculum but do not intend to continue in French for secondary

My children have been in the bilingual stream from the French Lycee in primary (although not in Marie D'Orliac), and I'd say it's fabulous if you intend to continue to the lycee in South Ken or if your child goes to a state secondary school . For 11+ however, it is far from ideal, as your child will have 50% of the time spent on the British curriculum (maths - NB. there's a gap between the FR and GB Math curriculum, & English), they won't have any notion of VR and NVR and no idea on how to do an interview. And they'll compete with children who have spent years in prep-school preparing literally only for this.
Some childrne manage the change, but they are definitely not at an advantage. My daughter managed to get an offer for an occasional place in y8 and I switched my son to the British system in y3 to avoid 11+. I hope that helps :)

We know children that attended the French bilingual at Fulham and going to private English school at 11+. They had tutoring at home from Year 2 for English system, in Maths and English. The parents said they were very relax but their grandparents were telling the amount of extra work they do weekly with tutors, tutors will set homework, music and sport private lessons for scholarships. So it depends on family culture and time commitment. Those that attended tended to go the South Ken without the tutoring. As mentioned NVR and VR needed to be taught. Maths…lots of wordy English problem solving which means they can do Maths but maybe not that way for 11+

Hello, we have two DDs about to sit an admissions test at Marie Dorliac -they are in yr 1 and y 3. Does anyone know what this test involves? Literacy? Or French oral? Our DDs speak a little french but can barely write French. Any insights would be very helpful. Thanks.
