Cultural fit at FH vs G vs KP?

Hello mummies our there. My DD is scheduled for assessments at all three and she is going to a very good local nursery. Of course I am still worried about 4+ assessment but I am also concerned about cultural fit as I don’t want my DD to feel out of place because her classmates families are too different. If there are any current mums, can you please provide more colour? Thank you!

Hi OP. I think you need to be a bit more specific. What are you worried about? What cultural fit are you looking for? What do you mean by "different"?

My husband and I both work in finance and are not originally in uk. I hear other schools such as GH and PH where 90% of mums are stay at home and are very deeply involved i school life on daily basis. I am worried that my child will feel that she is not getting enough attention as other kids.
FH - I hear feedback that it’s very posh old school and unless you are coming from the club you will not fit in
G - I hear more than 50% mums are stay at home and school has many ‘celebrities’
I consider our family upper middle class with both parents having demanding jobs so I don’t want to stress too much over schools where we would not fit anyway… or maybe I am overthinking it :)
anyway thank you for any advice!

Sorry, what are the acronyms?

None of the girls who were at FH & then went to secondary school with my daughter were old money. They are all fun hard working young adults now. Same applies to KP but that had more straight English families but it’s a much bigger school.

Wait & see what she’s offered & then make your choice, they are all good schools.

You will find plenty of people working in finance at all these schools. At KP about 3/4 of parents in our year work in finance. Well over half the mums work.

Have you been to visit all three schools? That should give you the best sense of whether you feel like you and your DD would fit in. Which did you like best / feel was the best fit for her?

KP is not as strong academically as it was five years ago so if you're highly ambitious for where your child goes at 11, I would probably focus on the other two schools.

Thank very much for your feedback, it’s a relief. I hear from mummies who have older siblings at GH and PH that in those schools 90% mums are stay at home and I was worried that it’s consistent across all Chelsea private schools

I repeatedly hear about FH that it takes a specific profile of parent/family to get in and parents are also part of evaluation process (although I hear it mostly from ones rejected, I don’t think it’s necessary a bad thing as noone likes to feel out of place) What is the typical/majority profile?

You will not choose them, they will choose you 😅 so less you can control than you think

Haha for sure, but I kinda want to save myself the stress of obsessing about trying to get into a school for the next 4 months where it’s likely I am not going to anyway…

KP, not prepping the kids as much as five years ago as @TheGreatOutdoors23 mentioned, so years leading up to 11+ lots of input at home or tutoring. If you both putting hours at work and want some guidance and prep for 11+ Faulkner would be suitable. Good luck!

Many moons ago, my daughter got a place at FH. She went with the nanny so I don’t think they had any means of assessing us as parents….
