Hi, asking for niece who is relocating back to London. She's looking at Charterhouse and Lyceum. Any opinions/experiences would be much appreciated.
Thank you!

We looked at both of these schools for my DD starting reception (as well as many others). I didn’t feel Charterhouse was right for my LO. I felt the strong focus on homework would have been a struggle. Lyceum wasn’t initially our first choice but after one zoom ‘meet the head’ session and then going to see the school in person, I was blown away. The confidence and kindness shown by the older children was wonderful to see. The teaching staff were also so passionate about the children, the school and their role in children’s’ development. Many of the staff have been at the school years, even decades, and they believe in The Lyceum and what it can achieve.

We are now in year 1 with a new Headmaster who joined the school when we did. He has truly transformed the school. It is full of joy, colour and happiness. He has focussed on STEAM with a new dedicated room and teacher. Raising the focus on sport is next on his list. Our DD received amazing care and attention from the Reception teaching staff and her reading/maths development is astounding. The teachers also go out of their way to help ease any bumps in the road, such as creating an individual chart to help understand family issues.
Other highlights are the wonderful chef who cooks all the lunches fresh each day on site (parents are invited to come in and dine with your little one once a year), after school clubs are varied and lots of regular trips to the theatre, sports centres etc. Parents are also supported with coffee mornings every term and a strong parents association.
The Lyceum is a hidden secret, yet it shouldn’t be. It’s an exciting place for the children as so much change is happening. I highly recommend going to one of the open mornings and ask your own questions.
