DS (7) desperate to go as Harry Potter. So, Granny is knitting a Gryffindor scarf and we have face paint for the scar, but I'm a bit stuck for the glasses. Is there anywhere on the high street that might sell clear harry potter type glasses? I live near York if anyone has any specific suggestions!

We are all set for tomorrow (whoops today!). The school has something on on Thursday so they are having it early. Nutcracker doll arrived in the post today from ebay for dd.

Just one problem, ds is adamant he doesn;t want to dress up. He wants to go in normal uniform. I think I'll dress him normally but take his Thomas the Tank Tabard with us.

all mine too old now, kind of a shame. Biggest challenge was the BFG- dp made a great dream trumpet thingy. Friend's dd went as Katy Morag- and the teachers had never heard of her!!!! shocking or what- this was before some bright spark had realised the books make a great geography resource.

Little brown Mouse from The Gruffalo, ds1 is almost 5, now I am off to Hobby Craft tomorrow to buy some brown felt and pink felt to make some ears, I already have a brown headband (mine)

I am dressing him in normal brown clothes, he has cords and brownish tops. I am yet to decide if I am doing a tail. How on earth would I attach this? Certainly do not want to use a safety pin near his bottom!!!

My dd [7] said that she wasn't dressing up and has now changed her mind. Aaah What as? She likes the Secret Seven at the moment, but there is hardly a recognisable character.

My dd reading hungry caterpillar at nursery but only got a ladybird cossie or green fairy! So ladybird it is - can we get away with it!!!!

Dandi · 05/03/2008 16:05

ladybird sounds great - the author of the hungry caterpillar wrote a book called the bad-tempered ladybird. I only know this as dd brought it home from school the other day. It's teeth-grindingly repetitious (sp?), but it definitely has a ladybird. Plus if your dd is having a cross day, you can claim she's just getting into character
