School snacks- break time

Hi, I am wondering if anyone can give me examples of what you send in for break time snacks in primary school? Feeling like I might like to be a bit organised for the kids going back !
I have so far been sending some fruit or a cereal bar, but it was getting a bit repetitive to be honest (and my son says he is still hungry even after he has eaten it !)
thanks

Better breakfast might help re hunger?

I send flapjack, or biscuits or a banana and DS is 10 and that’s fine til lunch…

Oh no he has a huge breakfast - cereal and toast or porridge and toast. plenty of fruit available.
Maybe it’s just hollow legs !!

The breakfasts you mention are very carb focussed. Try getting some protein in there to make him feel fuller longer.

We are only allowed to send fruit. So I try to focus on protein at breakfast - difficult as my daughter is very fussy eater but I often do something with greek yoghurt, or eggy bread.

Always just send a piece of fruit.

toomuchfaster · 23/08/2023 19:48

I only send fruit too. The school does allow the option of a non-chocolate, plain biscuit but we couldn't agree so fruit it is!

I agree re gettin some protein I to breakfast as u stsy full longer. How about boiled egg and toast. U could give him a Babybel and a piece of fruit for break?

I send in (6 year old) approx 6 cherry tomatoes and 5 cm ish of cucumber, fruit loaf (1 slice) with cheese, and a pot of fruit like grapes, blueberries or melon. Three small pots in total. If he does afterschool club I will also send in an apple or satsuma with a soreen bar. There is always a demand for a snack on the way home from school.

I have no idea what he has at lunch time. I would send other things in but I really cannot think what else to send in. Most other parents put fruit in but some send in snack bars, popcorn and crisps depending on what they have available I guess.

Should have said our guidelines state no nuts or chocolate!

I would like to get him off the snacks but the level of protest is deafening.

I send in plain biscuits! Or a soreen bar if I'm being fancy. They get free fruit in the infants so she has that too.

That’s really helpful thank you

Our school allows none nut none chocolate snacks.

So I send either fruit (banana, apple, orange or grapes are easiest), veg (cucumber or carrot sticks) or cheese (babybell usually)

BlueChampagne · 29/08/2023 13:39

cheese scones
oatcakes
hard boiled egg
Or just a sandwich!

DelurkingAJ · 29/08/2023 13:40

DS1 tells me he eats his Frube from lunch. DS2 still has free fruit.
