And so far I can't coax him out of it. Am I going too far in asking the teacher to talk him out of it? He is in reception.

if it bothers you just say 'no you can't'

or send him in as Puck .. he's a fairy too

MerlinsBeard · 28/02/2008 16:20

what does he want to go as?

MerlinsBeard · 28/02/2008 16:20

would he be fobbed off by peter pan?

LadyMuck · 28/02/2008 17:59

Ooops - last time I'm trying to MN on a mobile! I kept getting a redirection messages which I assumed was for each box, but obviously were multiple postings. Sorry!

He specifically wants to be the bad fairy in sleeping beauty. I'll try Peter Pan (though Tinkerbell or Wendy would be more favoured).

Twiglett, it isn't as much the fact that "you can't" won't wash. It is trying to convince that he shouldn't go as a female character.

why not let him? see Spidermama's recent posts about spiderboy. Is there really a problem in him being a fairy on world book day?

It's a bit difficult seeing ass in pantomimes, the women are played by men and the men are played by women.

Puck is a fairy. Dress him in green, make him some glittery green wings, and he's sorted. A fairy and a male character.

I feel sorry for boys on WBD - girls get all the best characters!

My son went as a fairy to the Nativity Play. A very very pink fairy.
To be fair he's only in preschool, but why don't you let him? Maybe have a word that some kids may think it's only for girls but if that doesn't bother him don't let it bother you.

The bit missing from my first post(s) is that he is at an all boys school. Now he has done the pink bit at preschool, and he has a full collection of dolls, barbies etc at home. I'm just not sure of the reaction he wil get when he is the only boy in a school of over 350 boys to not be dressed as a knight, pirate or footballer...
