DS Year 3, came home from school yesterday really chuffed that he has been chosen to be in a new club which meets at two break-times weekly. There's a child from each of the 8 junior classes, and they are working on a butterfly house with caterpillars. It sounds like they are nurturing the caterpillars, and will release the butterflies when they are grown.

There have been some 'issues' between DS and a Year 6 boy, which I have been into school twice about. The older was being a bit rough with DS, but Ds quite likes playing with the older boy.

I am wondering whether it's a kind of social skills group and the school have identified DS needs this.

Has anyone else come across such a group for their DC?

No, I haven't but it sounds great.

Yes, our school does something similar. None of the children realise they've been chosen because of their lack of social skills or problems making friends or similar issues. They just have a fantastic time, and it does seem to help.
