How many parents evenings / meetings per year?

Just interested to know how many parents evening or meetings/feedbacks your school provides?

we get one “settling in feedback” call of 5 mins in October before half term.

then the one and only multi teacher parents evening in February. Each teacher limited to a 5 min online call.

And nothing else for the whole year. so between February and July we have no other comms with the teacher.

we get 3 x effort reports online end of each term.

it just feels to me very rushed and not very personal. You have no idea how your child is really doing until the end of that term when you get those reports but then isn’t followed up by any chats or conversations.

am I expecting too much?

We get 10 minute in person parents evening after October half-term, February half-term and after the end of year reports usually end of June/start of July.
We only get one report a year.

One ten-minute face-to-face meeting (over two evenings) in October, another in Feb/March and an open evening when parents come to view workbooks and displays in July. There are no appointments for that but staff are around. One written report per year of a side and a half of A4.

We get a very basic report followed by a 10min (in person or online) parents evening in October and then the same again in March. More in depth reports are sent out at the end of the year but there's not really any opportunity to discuss them with the teacher.

One parents evening in Oct, face to face when you can view books. Same in July altho ours got cancelled due to ill health and not sure if it'll be repeated.

But I do pick up at the door every evening so if there was an issue with something they grab you and tell you

They'd also always make time to chat.

Can understand tho if you're working so don't see them at those times it's hard

In primary school we’ve typically had reports sent out at the end of each term, and parents evenings towards the end of the winter and spring terms.

But the school also uses the ClassDojo app which lets parents contact the teachers directly if there’s any concerns they want to raise.

Plus as a pp says, if you pick up the kids then the teachers will grab you and tell you if there’s an issue.

One around Oct, one around March. Report at the end of the year.
If there was a problem I would email the teacher explaining and go in for a chat or ask for a phone call.
That's for primary.

At my DD secondary it's one multi teacher parents eve a year and 3 v basic reports. But whenever i have contacted the school with a specific concern they have got straight back to me.

That’s really interesting so more or less the same across the board.

I don’t know why I felt like there should be more. I always find by the time they’ve raised any concerns or areas of improvement you wish they had told you sooner so you could work on it.

Primary

2 per year (10 mins) and written report each term.

High school

1 per year (5 mins with each teacher) and written report each term

Those people saying written reports each term (!), what do they consist of? How long/detailed are they?

The termly written reports from my DC’s primary school are typically 1 - 2 A4 pages.

Not terribly detailed, usually a table showing where they are in relation to expected progress, and a couple of sentences about how they’re doing generally and in the main subjects.
The end of year report tends to be a bit more detailed.

Blimey. TERMLY? How long does that all take?
That sounds completely unmanageable and unsustainable to me and should be the first thing to go when discussions about reducing workload are had.
Is it even valuable?
