Earrings in School

My DD (5) had her ears pierced in the half term. After they were done I found out that the school doesn't allow children to have earrings in at all.
I have given them a disclaimer stating I wouldn't blame them for any accident she had that hurt her ears and told them I would take them out after the first six weeks had past but I was called to the headteacher today and told that the board of governors want me to take them out.
I tried to take them out this evening and managed to get one out and she screamed the place down. She even started to hyperventilating. To stop them closing up I put the stud back in intending to take them out before school tommorrow but I am in work for the rest of the week and my MIL is taking her to school. I can't ask her to take the studs out when I know she'll react like that.
Any suggestion on how to approach these. Will her ears close up in the six hours she is in school.(It was hard enough to get them in after 5 minutes out)

DD asked me how old she has to be to have her ears pierced.

I said 21.

Same rules here UQD. DD is now counting down the years until then (she is 4 atm)

I think the approach you need to take is to admit to yourself, your daughter and the school that you made a mistake.

Next, grit your teeth, administer an ice cube to numb the earlobe and take them out or get a professional to remove them using nthe same numbing spray that they use when piercing them in the first place.

Then, if you really must give in to your daughters "mature" request, have them re-done again immediately after school on the last day of the summer term so that they have 6 weeks to get sorted out before she returns in the Autumn.

I have to say I'd have checked the school jewellery policy first before allowing the piercing. I suspect that parents all over the UK are using "the school rules" excuse to postpone piercing until their children are older.
