How do school selections come through? (email application)

My eldest should get her school allocation tomorrow. We applied via the email process, because we are moving counties next month, so put down mostly schools in our new location (although, pretty sure we won't get them!). So, in this instance, will we be emailed the results? or will I have to call the council? or can I still get them through the online portal? It's also my first day at a new job so really hoping we can tackle the results before the start of the day!

TIA

Pretty certain it will be an email. Good luck!

Should be emailed first thing tomorrow. We only love 100m away from our first choice and DD has a sibling there but I'm still nervous!

Hope you get a school that works for you.

Both - you should be emailed, plus website should go "live" and show allocations.

Your current council retains the responsibility for allocating you a place right up to the date you move - so they co-ordinate with the LA where the schools you applied to actually are, and pass on an offer (if there is one) or allocate you the nearest one with a vacancy (nearest based on your current address)

Thank you! Good luck. It feels like such a lottery, but you sound like you're in a great position.

Thank you! Will try to resist checking my email when my youngest wakes up in the night! I'm pretty sure we'll get given a Surrey school (we're moving to Devon) but we applied for Devon because both schools were undersubscribed last year. So I guess we'll probably have to go through it all again over the course of the summer.

@TMarieClara - if the school(s) you've applied for in Devon are undersubscribed this year, you'll be allocated a place. It doesn't matter that you currently live in Surrey. If you put the Devon schools as your chosen schools and there's a place available, you'll be allocated it.

If they were oversubscribed, you can still stay on the waiting list for your preferred school(s). Lots of movement happens between now and September so don't panic yet. Once you've actually moved, you may move up the waiting list if your new house is closer to the school(s) than the other children on the waiting list. It will slightly depend where in Devon you move to - Devon County Council has catchment areas, Plymouth does not (not sure about Torbay). In catchment areas, you can sometimes live further from the school than another applicant and have priority if the catchment area boundary is in your favour.

if you are in Surrey it is part of London Co-ordinated process and you will be sent an email after 1700 on 17 April

If the schools in Devon were undersubscribed you will be offered but the result will still come from Surrey

We got ours at 1am today, in Hampshire
