Job applications for Prep School

I have just seen a job at a local prep school that I'm interested in where my son goes to. They haven't stated salary or any benefits. Is it ok to email them to ask them or is it something that would be discussed at interview or if offered the job?

I would definitely drop a message and ask for more details

I would never enquire like that, I'd just apply if your interested. To me salary and benefits are what you discuss AFTER a job offer.

Many places don't mention salary, at the interview stage you can ask about benefits, never say I want X at interview, and don't ask how much do I get off fees if I take this role, but certainly bring up your DC attending the school, its a huge incentive for them as they get staff heavily invested into the school already.

Its only at job offer I've negotiated salary / benefits, and say I want more salary/ higher amount of fees for my DC, etc. At that point they're much more likely to meet you half way . Worked every time for me.

If you go in now before applying, and say the job is X a year and benefits are XYZ, you have nothing to negotiate as you haven't even applied.

I always want to know before I apply otherwise that’s a lot of hassle to go through by applying to a job that may not suit my financial requirements.

There is no way I'm wasting my time crafting an application, tailoring my cv and turning up for interview without know the pay or at least a range. It's all very well saying you'll have a rough idea but a very quick look at current vacancies similar to my job I'm doing and there is a £10k range the bottom end of which I wouldn't consider.

I'd drop them a polite email asking for salary range. Really bloody irritates me when it's not mentioned (especially tricky if it's a new industry/role you're moving into and don't have prior knowledge)

the big difference here its a job where DC goes to school which means a benefit of fees reduction.

I know plenty who would jump at a job at their DC's Prep as this can save a huge chunk of fees as staff member, the salary is just a bonus.

I suspect this is where OP is coming from.
