Whats the best way to teach times tables to kids that are a bit behind and find it hard to remember?

Any advice for getting reluctant DD to practice her times tables? I ask them on the walk to school etc, but she's tells me to stop and doesn't want to do them.
She's Year 2 and doing 2/5/10/3 times tables but not making much progress.
She really doesn't like any Maths apps/computer games, she gets really upset with timers/pressure to get the answers right!

Reciting them rote.

There's a Y4 times tables test (England). What year is your dc in?

It's important to show your DC that tables are adding in 3's, 5's etc each time and that it's the same as 'groups of' 3's or 5's. Teaching them the link between multiplying and dividing really helps understanding. Often they learn by rote but don't really get what they are doing.
Eg 4 x 3 =12 so 12 ÷ 4 =3 (use small items, dry beans, pasta etc)
Learning they can turn the numbers round from division or multiplication seems really helpful.
