Primary - how much time average of maths?

Hi

My daughter is 7 (yr 3), from what my daughter says it doesnt sound like they spend an awful lot of time doing maths and seem to be spending a lot time on culture and history. I have no problem with the culture and history but they missed so much during lockdown I think they should be prioritising the basics.

I could be worrying too much, but before I rock the boat with the school I wondered whether anyone had any insight to how much time they should be spending on maths in a given week?

Thanks

Our school published daily class schedules for each term so we can see how much math they do a week

I’m my school, we have maths everyday for 70 minutes x

I'm not too certain if there is an exact amount of time spent on maths - I honestly don't know if that is specified by the government or not.

Most schools do tend to do one maths lesson a day but I have worked at a school that did just four lessons a week.

As well, some schools have a topic based system where they teach all subjects through a topic. This can mean that some half terms have more coverage of a subject than others. So they may have a more maths heavy term coming...

How much time roughly are they spending on maths a week @Eirianbach

My DC's school have an hour of maths every day. As far as I can tell this is the case for year 1 upwards.

My children at a good state school do an hour or more of maths every morning. They do things like history, science, music, PE or geography in the afternoon, some of which can involve more applied maths skills.

4-6 hours a week at that age, in every school I've worked in. About 8 of English. Between 1 and 4 hours of history/geography/RE/PSHE "culture" stuff. 2 of PE and then some of the creative arts, a little bit of a foreign language. I've not known much variation in schools I've worked in

I teach yr 3 - an hour every morning, every day. Also an hour of English every morning.
Things like history and culture (and music, computing, geography, science, topic work) we always do in the afternoons - could it be that she's talking about them as they're "fresher" in her memory?
7 year olds often can't remember what they did before lunch in my experience!

We have maths every day from 8.55 - 10. Plus two separate short times tables sessions a week.
