Primary late applications

Hi all,
first time posting!! We’re in the process of buying a house in another LA. Things have been delayed and we are close to pulling out because it looks like we’re going to miss the 15th January 2023 application deadline. I’ve just read on the gov website that you can make changes up until 9th Feb (I think! ) such as a change of address as long as you can evidence why. It will then be treated as an “on-time” application. After the 9th Feb. It will be treated as late. My question is..,do we apply for schools where we currently live then amend it to school in the new LA should completion take place at the end of January which is what our buyers have indicated (if our seller doesn’t pull out by then 🥴) . Schools were a big factor in our decision to move in the first place and so to miss the deadline makes it seem pointless …and it’s not that the schools where we currently live aren’t good because they are, but I was a teacher and have worked in many of them,
having resigned from teaching last year I just want a fresh start for our son. If you’ve been in this situation then I’m eager to hear from you, or if you work in schools admissions and can advise that would be great. I am so close to throwing my toys out of the pram and telling the buyer where to go!
thanks
xx

Whether you can make changes and for how long depends on the LA concerned. However, assuming the destination LA will allow changes, you need to apply to your current LA (assuming you haven't moved before 15th January) and amend it when you move.
