As I said upthread, Asperger's hasn't been a diagnosis for some time. Do you mean ASD?

Candyfloss2 · 24/11/2022 15:22

NCFT0922 · 24/11/2022 15:20

Doing well given they no longer give Asperger’s as a diagnosis. It stopped years ago. Do you mean ASD?

Yes

AntlerRose · 24/11/2022 15:27

The diagnositic criteria for adhd and asd do not include not being kind, use of knives or pushing people over.

Candyfloss2 · 24/11/2022 15:31

I need to see shrink to learn how to think and how to feel .
but still : the lab self harming broad day time is scaring .

to give the school huge credit :

A primary school with teenagers and science labs and knives? I think someone is having someone on here. 🧐

Yeah all on the waiting list to get diagnoses that haven't existed since 2013

TallulahBetty · 24/11/2022 15:35

Hm.......

IhearyouClemFandango · 24/11/2022 15:36

🤔🤔

Candyfloss2 · 24/11/2022 15:11

Actually you r right . I apologise .
i don’t even know for sure it’s adhd .
obviously it’s confidential .
I am just guessing it .
cant sit still , amazing at sports .
clumsy . Impulsive . Not kind ( in this individual case )
and all his siblings are exactly the same behaviour .

other schools mums are saint , I wish I can be like them . One minute your own kids being knocked down ( by accident again ) with nose bleeding by this family kids . Next minute is no worries have fun .
above happens on daily weekly bases .
not even monthly bases .

So yes : the point is : I could be wrong and it maybe not adhd at all .

So basically you are spouting generalised nonsense at all adhd kids because there is one who is a bully and you have a backwards attitude to even your own kid?

OK right.

Just report the thread, everyone. Don't fall for it.

No child in primary school is old enough to have had an Aspergers diagnosis. Where are you based?

Nonsense, ds was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome aged 10 when it was still a thing. There is absolutely no reason why a primary school aged child can't be diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome apart from the fact that they don't anymore as they've decided to just lump everyone in together under the umbrella ASD.

Candyfloss2 · 24/11/2022 15:55

Maybe she means below age 6 they won’t diagnose

Well, there is a reason. Aspergers hasn't been used as a diagnosis since 2013. Therefore even a child now in year 6 (born Sep 2011 earliest) would have had to have been diagnosed as a baby, which obviously they wouldn't have been.

Nobody on the pathway now would use the term aspergers.

The OP has posted extensively on these boards about entering 7plus exams in London and her child, so this is consistent, please lay off a bit….

They give diagnosis’ that actually exist before 6. There is no such thing as an Asperger's diagnosis anymore and hasn’t for a number of years.

Sigma33 · 24/11/2022 16:22

Why are you paying for a school that doesn't keep your child safe?

You have no rights with a private school, if they are happy for this behaviour to continue then there's nothing you can do about it.

jamoncrumpets · 24/11/2022 16:26

' the very autism kid usually has a 1-1 teacher keep him/ her under control )'

'Very autism kid?'

Wtf?

1-1's aren't to keep children 'under control'. They're to help them learn.

I think you're a SEN troll, we have loads here atm

Lay off?

OP has said that at this primary school there are teenagers self harming in the labs. Have you ever come across teenagers or labs in primary schools?

Then she threw in something about children cross dressing to try and get people riled up about that, nobody bit

Firstly her child had Aspergers, now is on the "waiting list" for Aspergers. I maintain that anybody with a child currently on the ASD pathway would be very unlikely to use Aspergers as a term because it won't have been in any of their conversations or correspondence. Big fat fail there.

Thanks .
dr verbally told me it’s Asperger .
but on paper letter it’s different terminology .
I think dr just wanted to comfort me to tell me which end of spectrum my kid is on .

We trying very hard for 7+ & exhausted Esply now at this flu season.
And I have been reading target schools report and their SEN ratio . Obviously they r less ratio than my current none selective school .
But due to that they r v selective on academic / behaviour side , I think they won’t mind / even welcome at admission for some particular type /certain type of SEN .

But for example I know of a kid got in top 3 but saw him growing up , seeing him always abusing animals in parks . ( whatever this SEN is called ) . I am guessing entrance exam is not fool proof to filter out violent type .

above 1 mum is right . I May have to see beyond it and case by case.

Abusing animals doesn't mean he has SEN

jamoncrumpets · 24/11/2022 16:50

Abusing animals in parks isn't SEN.

Sadistic behaviour comes in all shapes and sizes.

I guess state school cannot exclude those kids neither ?

OP posts:
FrownedUpon · 24/11/2022 16:52

There’s a ridiculous over identification of SEN in this country. Labels being attributed far too quickly which can be damaging to children. Parents are literally buying labels (eg dyslexia) for their child because they get extra time in exams etc.

MrsVeryTired · 24/11/2022 17:03

Your posts are very confusing, is English not your first language OP?

It's not about whether they are excluded or not - but you have a lot more rights to insist that your child is safe.

If this was happening in my DD's state school and it wasn't being sorted I would be taking it to the Headteacher, and then to the Governors. They couldn't just tell me to take her somewhere else, because she has the right to be safe

Thatsnotmycar · 24/11/2022 19:30

to tell me which end of spectrum my kid is on

The autism spectrum isn’t what you think it is. It isn’t a linear continuum with 2 ends.

Parents are literally buying labels (eg dyslexia) for their child because they get extra time in exams etc.

A diagnosis of dyslexia doesn’t automatically entitle the pupil to extra time.
