Teachers comments about DS

My ds (7) is always in trouble at school for messing around and being silly. Today however my DS asked me "does mrs hate me?" so I said "course not, why?" so he said "I heard her saying to another teacher when I was in trouble "sometimes I could just kick him" and the other teacher said "yes, I could too"

I know it was probably said in jest (and of course DS could be making it up or could've misheard) but isnt this a bit unprofesional? or am I being over protective?

I don't believe a teacher would have said that within earshot of a child .. probably in the staffroom

sometimes, I could just kick my own kids to be honest

but don't think they'd have said something like that

BUT I would approach her and have a laugh and say you'll never guess what DS told me he said ...... see what her reaction is

hmm, its a difficult one because its so uncertain that the conversation ever took place 'probably said in jest', 'could be making it up', 'couldve misheard'

If he did make it up, the issue really is that your ds has an inkling that he may not be liked by his teacher. I suppose you need to address this as he needs to realise his behaviour in school will have consequences.

Is it possible that he misheard? Often, the "monkeys" are the ones that I adore in the class and even though they drive me mad, I have definitely said to a colleague things like "oooh but I could just kiss him" (Kiss/kick??) or my own particular favourite "I could eat him up on a butty" which might be equally miscontrued I suppose if overheard by the child in question.

It is possible!

I'd say it is unprofessional! There are children in my class that I dislike but I don't desire to kick them or anything else. I would not enter into this type of conversation with another member of staff if they were saying things like this.
