this is purely my fault i should have been looking it up ages ago, but with much upheavel in my life lately, i didn't i found out only 2 days ago that the i should have applied for a spot by jan. 18th what makes it worse in a way is that i don't know where i'll be living in september (which area of town.) as i'm due to be moving out of my (separated) husbands place in a month or so.

i feel horrible and worse now that my son might not end up somewhere decent.

sigh..any advice/help?

have you rung up the admissions people to see what your options are?

Just make the application now - LEA won't be too bothered and you have extenuating circumstances that you can briefly outline. You can only go on your current situation unfortunately unless you have evidence of a future move - but needs to be solid like letter from landlord or estate agents / solicitors or somesuch.

they're gonna send me the application and asked me to enclose a letter detailing my situation.

i hope it's that simple.

Don't get too stressed - you can only do so much. Work on the assumption you won't be moving and if you do, then deal with that later. Can you speak to the Primary School about the last couple of years and how many applied? Also, if you were only turned down for a place because of a very slightly late application then you'd have good reason to appeal. Families move around all the time so LEA's are always getting applications at odd times and these children get places. Good luck.

definitely not going to stress about it, have plenty of other things to stress about now! the nearest primary school to where we live now won't be on our list (purely because it won't be practical for me to bring ds there and then back to town for work for me)

i didn't know you could appeal. that's good news i suppose.

i'm going to start looking up the schools around the town and see some ofsted reports.

thanks again ladies
