Hi, i am here for advice from local people in Glasgow area or rather central Scotland. Looking to move.
Currently staying in Falkirk worst area..while we love our neighbours and our house is close to river, parks, cycling paths and we have beautiful garden etc we cant put up with antisocial behaviour and junkies on our street anymore. We were new to this area and picked the worst 6 years ago.
Now we have family of 4 and a dog and looking to buy 3 bedroom semidetached with garden with some parks, river, greenery around us. Our budget is not big 200K so i am not after perfect house in the best area with the best schools..just a good area with good schools especially secondary for future and in green town with train station preferrably. Parks and nature are very important to me.
Looking to move anywhere around central scotland closer to Glasgow rather than Edi but no idea about good areas..
So far i know i would not want to stay in Cumbernauld.

hellensbough and Dunbartonshire are nice

@Lemonlemonade ask Mumsnet to move this to Scotsnet.
There's plenty of people from Glasgow on there who should be able to help you

I'd go for Polmont but possibly Larbert or Denny. You won't get much in the nicer areas of Glasgow for 200k.

Sorry you've had a bad experience in Falkirk. There are other areas that are quiet, safe and scenic with good schools. You might pick up a 3 bed for that price in Polmont, Brightons, Reddingmuirhead.

Closer to Glasgow, it depends if you want to have access to the train. For that budget, I'd look at Stepps, Chryston, Moodiesburn, Banknock, Kilsyth.

Why don't you go onto the local council websites and look at community council minutes to see what's going on in neighbourhoods.

Good luck, it's rubbish when you're fed up with where you live.

Thank you everyone for your messages. Good idea regarding local council website. I know 200K not much but there is still a hope

Sorry Falkirk has not worked out for you. Taking your budget into account . Prestwick or Troon if you fancy the coast. Both have secondaries in the top quarter of academic attainment for Scotland. Bishopbriggs, very easy quick commute to Glasgow and one of the top ten secondaries.
