Come here and brag unashamedly!

Just wanted to do the opposite of a stealth brag and shout really loudly how proud I am of my dd, she got 18 out of 20 on her spelling test in her SAT! Achieved by many hours of hard work, as she dragged herself up from a very low base this year (struggling to get half of even the easy ones right at the start of the year, and still didn’t know most of her KS1 spellings).

There is nothing like the warm glow of parental pride, is there - especially when an achievement has come from so much grafting (by which I mean, angry tearful refusal to practice followed by a slowly creeping determination to improve, followed by little shy smiles of pleasure when a tricky spelling was finally mastered).

I keep reading the page in her school report and makes me happy all over again to see that shiny, bright number 18 on the page.

So come here and bring your bragging! I wanna hear it all, big or small.

That's wonderful, congratulations! You deserve to feel proud of her effort and your support. Well done to you both.

PuttingDownRoots · 16/07/2022 13:35

My DD passed all three SATs. (102, 106, 109).

She was particularly proud of her 7 on spelling. It was the highest she ever got.

For full context... she is dyslexic, and was working way below level at the beginning of Yr6.

Well done @WhatsInAMolatovMocktail DD

My 9 year old struggles with maths. Last year she was below expectations after the pandemic. This year with extra help in school she has caught up and is meeting all her targets and where she should be. I’m so proud of her. My 5 year old as well has exceeded expectations in everything in her first year of school so I’m a very proud mum!

Maximo2 · 16/07/2022 14:07

My class’s GDS results are 42% reading, 42% Maths and 46% SPAG. We’re particularly proud of the Maths since the reason we were put into RI by Ofsted in the Autumn was that we didn’t have any greater depth mathematicians as far as they were concerned and wouldn’t listen to anything different.

But we actually have twice as many as the national average so they can put that figure in their pipe and smoke it!

StEthelburgaRose · 16/07/2022 14:43

Well done to all the hard working kids and hard working teacher

Rainydaize · 16/07/2022 14:45

My son got greater depth in all areas for Ks1 assessments. Super proud!

WhatsInAMolatovMocktail · 16/07/2022 15:04

Loving all these posts!

@PuttingDownRoots that's beautiful, it is these moments of achievement that you know are going to buoy them up through the hard years ahead, because they know they CAN.

Whilst still glowing with pride, I did have a little snigger at DD's end-of-term "thank you" card for her teacher, which has 3 basic and glaring spelling mistakes in it. I was a good mummy and said, "it's lovely" and not a word more on the subject!

Lovely thread and well done to everybody's DCs!

DD is autistic and struggles with a lot in life, but she is academic. She got greater depth in each of the yr6 SATS including an amazing 118 in SPAG.

But we've come to expect good academic results so what I'm really proud of were the nice comments in her report that said she was kind and had been an asset to the school.

Kolajam · 16/07/2022 19:11

My son has always been bright but scored 118 118 120 on ks2 sats, and GD in writing - has kept up with and surpassed kids that have been tutored for years with not a day’s tutoring himself!

paulhollywoodshairgel · 16/07/2022 19:23

My daughter has had 3 reports since September and each one has been better than the last. At greater depth in 7 subjects. My son really struggled through covid but has absolutely smashed it this year. His report is amazing in all subjects but the also said his behaviour is exemplary and than he is kind, thoughtful and an amazing friend which somehow means more!!

DreamingofItaly2023 · 16/07/2022 19:27

At the start of this year my DS could read about 3 words and couldn’t grasp blending at all (he was starting year 1). Over the year he has cried and became so despondent but has kept trying and he has been rewarded by blending finally clicking. He is now flying through the book bands and most importantly is enjoying reading. I couldn’t be more proud.

LisaSimpson77 · 16/07/2022 19:37

Well done to everybody's children, it's lovely to be able to shout about it.

My ds' teacher stopped me in the car park on the last day of term to say that she doesn't want him to leave her class as he's such a lovely boy, did everything she asked with a smile on his face and always gave 100%. That meant more to me than his academic results.

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 16/07/2022 19:43

Three children in my class can now blend and hear words independently. I am so proud of them and what they have achieved this year.

IfYouOnlyKnew · 16/07/2022 19:57

My DS got 40/40 on his year 1 phonics screening and his report was glowing. He ‘embodies the school values’, always works hard and behaves well and has been a ‘delight to teach this year.’ I’m so proud of him, I cried reading his report. But I feel I can’t brag too much in real life so this is a lovely thread! Congrats to everyone else too!

ResistanceBanned · 16/07/2022 22:12

My DS got 111, 112 and 113 in his KS2 SATs, and GD in writing. He has a late August birthday. Even at the beginning of this year I would never have thought that this would be possible. He was ‘working towards’ year group expectations in KS1, and ‘meeting expectations’ in years 3, 4 and 5 (which I have always been really pleased with). His amazing year 6 teacher told me in October that she though he should be able to achieve GD. She encouraged him so much without any pressure and has given him so much confidence. I’m so proud of him!

WhatsInAMolatovMocktail · 17/07/2022 05:45

We are growing some fine young people. Let's hope they will grow up and use their brains and compassion to make this whole planet a better place.

DS2 got 108 Reading, 109 SpAG and 105 Maths in his SATs. Whilst not GD, the progress he has made especially in maths through lots of hard work is huge and I’m so proud of him. He also got an ASD diagnosis a week before SATs.

SamPoodle123 · 17/07/2022 08:09

Well done! My ds was slow at the start of his reading journey. We did not push him much as I felt he was not ready. When he did learn to read, he was slow to progress the first year. Until, he finally found a book that he loved. He could not believe he could read for enjoyment. He became a bookworm and now end of year 3 in his reading report I saw he is reading at greater depths level (Which is the highest you can get on the report). This made me proud of him.

salmongrey · 17/07/2022 08:11

My son has autism and goes to a SEN school where they do no prep or working towards SATS. At the very last minute, they asked him to try and sit them (so had never seen a paper before in his life and had no idea what was on them). Not only did he manage to sit and complete all of them, he got 110, 109, 112. I could not be prouder all round.

HighRopes · 17/07/2022 08:17

Dd did very well on KS2 SATs, but for me the biggest thing was she lost a lot of confidence for various reasons in Y3-Y4, and became very shy. She had a medium-sized part in the Y6 play and stood up in front of all the parents and said her lines clearly, while wearing a costume (a big deal for her), and also did an unaccompanied solo on her instrument at the school concert. I couldn’t imagine her doing that at all a few years ago.

Logoplanter · 17/07/2022 09:26

DC1 is academic and I knew in theory he'd do well in his year 6 SATS but it was great to see his amazing results.

The school didn't push them, they spent half a day a week doing SATS work. No extra homework, no pressure and DS was chilled going into the exams. The school cared more about their mental health than about the results they are judged on and the children did the school proud. The school's results were brilliant.

DC2's report was also ace - full marks on the year 4 maths assessment and apparently they are a "gifted mathematician." They clearly get that from DC1 🤣

I think what I loved most though were the written comments from the teachers. You can't measure the qualities the comments referred to but they are so important and I'm so pleased my kids have them.

Reading these comments is so lovely ❤️ Brag away everyone about your wonderful kids 🙂

inmyslippers · 17/07/2022 09:28

My child one every single sports day race. I sadly let the family down and dropped my egg 😂

fourtytwochairs · 17/07/2022 09:35

Well done to all the amazing DC in this thread!

Three children in my class came into Y1 not being able to write or read 3 letter words. All three of them passed the phonics check, one got greater depth in reading and one is now expected in writing. I'm so proud of the progress they've made.

Snuzzle · 17/07/2022 12:13

DD 8 came home with an amazing end of term report, exceeding in all subjects and fantastic personal comments from her teacher.
I’m so proud of how well she’s coped with lockdown and home learning and then going back to school.
