Phew!!! Roll on the summer holidays. Parents with older children, how long does this mean behaviour/leaving out/generally not being nice friends last? Help!! Think I’ve forgotten what it was like to be a 12 year old girl….

Not sure if your DD is at a mixed or single sex school. Mine (just left year 11) was at mixed sex and after some problems at the end of year 7 with some girls, they seemed to have resolved by the start of year 8. The summer holidays did help. Her best friends through year 10 and 11 were all boys bar a couple because they don't get involved in the shenanigans that girls do and she just gravitated towards them, similar interests etc. and little judgyness and competitiveness. Either way, hopefully for your DD the summer break will allow a bit of a reset and she'll go back to a happier environment. Good luck.

Just noticed you posted this in primary education and you mention year 7 friendships so assuming she is going into year 8.

Sorry to disappoint but I think Year 8 and 9 are the prime years for girls' falling out.
Year 10 probably worst for boys.

Try to persuade your DD to rise above it/ distance herself from those causing drama.

Probably by the time they are in College or Sixth form so around 16-17. For some it lasts even longer.. depends who you child gravitates towards friendship wise, some friendship groups have more drama than others..
