My ds(currently in year 4) will move to another school starts next January, as I am new to UK and would like to show my respect to the school, so what’s the courtesy? whom is better to be communicate? Principal / headteacher / form tutor / register ? Write an email or visit in person?

Thank you in advance

Just to check, your DS is in a UK school, but will change to another UK school in January? Is this a private school? If so, you will need to give at least a term's notice to not pay fees. This isn't an issue with state schools obviously.

I would inform officially via the school office. I would probably email with the relevant information I.e. leaving date and school they are going to, and ask them if I needed to do anything else. Separately (in DCs last week) I would write a card or email to the teacher expressing thanks. If we were at a private school I'd be double checking the policy though, to ensure I gave notice correctly and didn't have to pay more fees!

January is an odd timing, presumably a private school. If your current school is also private you usually need to give a full term's notice in writing to avoid paying fees in lieu. So before September term starts write a letter of withdrawal to the head.

Thanks LIZS, I know it is not a normal transfer time, it's a long story though. I have wrote an email to the school principal last Sunday to ensure a full term's notice, but it's strange he hasn't replied to me? Maybe because I didn't mention which school we will be to?
