Year 2SATS what happens now

Just had a call from my DC (7 Year 2) school today they weren’t able to do the SATs test today due to DC, they have SN and basically reacted quite badly to the test – nothing really bad they basically just had a panic attack and had to be taken out of the room to calm down.

School have said they are going to leave it for today and try again on Monday, as today was the final test anyway.

So while everyone else in DCs year is sitting the test what will DC be doing?
And how will it work on Monday? Will they be taken out separately to do it?

For context DC has SN and I’m surprised they have got this far without any other panics, I also incredibly proud of them for trying their hardest to carry on despite being panicked and I will be thanking the teacher for noticing and stepping in rather than forcing DC to carry on.

Would it be inappropriate to take DC out for a treat after school or do I wait until Monday when they’ve done all the tests?

For KS1 SATS, I doubt they would all be sat doing the test all the same time, they usually do them in little groups, its generally very informal.
It's also completely internal, the test doesn't leave the school, they're marked by the teachers, so it won't matter a jot if your child doesn't manage to do the test :)

Poor thing, I would def take them for an ice cream and park play or something and try not to grill them too much about it /see if they open up and of course reassure them it’s fine (I’m sure you will anyway!)

@Heckythump1 The letter that came out said the SATs are marked by another local school and our teachers mark a different schools paper for "moderation" purproses so while not a big deal to DC its a big deal to the school, it's also a First School that finishes at Year 4 so these are the marker for the school really.

Your child should not be forced to take this - I am sure the teacher does not need the results of this test to know what your child's needs are. He/she is there to have their needs met, not to take tests to help the school meet their targets - this is all the wrong way round. There are some children who cannot cope with SATs and this needs to be recognised and the test abandoned for that child. OfSted can go hang frankly - at the primary where I am governor we have had to make a case for a child not sitting them and the school should be doing this.

Had a chat with the teacher and got DC home, they didn't want to go anywhere tonight but promised them a trip to the sweet shop tomorrow. It's raining here so will probably watch a film with a hot chocolate later that always gets them to tell me things.

Teacher told me not to worry too much as they weren't badly behaved she could see DC was getting more and more upset and decided it was better for them to not be doing the test right then. They went and sat in the KS1 library and played on the computer with the HLTA who wasn't teaching.
