Permanent Exclusion

A child in my dc's class has recently been permanently excluded and the Governors have upheld the Headteacher's decision.
This is a year 5 class in a Catholic primary school which is part of a Multi Academy Company. The school is a feeder school for the secondary school within the same MAC but admissions are handled by the LEA.
Does anyone know if the exclusion applies to just the one school or can all schools within the MAC refuse to take the child? I would assume that it would only be the one school but hoping the secondary school could refuse to accept the child.
The pattern of violence and disruptive behaviour has been ongoing since year 2 and has got much worse over time and I am considering whether to look at other secondary schools a bit more closely as an option for my dc because the Catholic secondary school does admit children from none feeder schools and as the excluded child is Baptised I assume he would normally meet the admissions criteria.

In all secondary schools kids like this with problems will come and go. It’s not like this one boy is the only violent disruptive kid who will be suspended or excluded across all schools.
I’d still send your son to this school if it’s what you were going to do and where everyone he knows will be, because there’s a kid or five like this at every school and usually at least one every year level.

Thank you!
You are right and have put things into perspective. I think I've become too focused on that particular child and have forgotten to think of the bigger picture.

Schools are not allowed to take behaviour into account when deciding admissions unless a child has been permanently excluded twice. So no, the secondary school could not refuse to accept this child unless they are permanently excluded again.

Put your child in the school that is right for them, not the one that you think will avoid this child.
‘High schools have massive numbers so your child is unlikely to be affected by him, and he could possibly end up at another school anyway if his behaviour doesn’t improve.

If he’s been permanently excluded he might get into a Pru and his behaviour improve. He could also get a EHC plan to meet his needs. He will have needs. All children excluded from a primary school do. Obviously other children and parents dislike unruly behaviour but he might even go to a special school which can greatly help with his behaviour. Let’s hope this happens or this child will not be a fully participating member of society.
