My son went on one of their free trial in Year One. I was a bit dubious about it all, he didn't need extra work but he loved it. I was nearly tempted to keep him entertained during holidays and then but then they told me the cost.

£80 a month!!!!!!!! They had various ways you could get the cost down using vouchers etc but being a SAHM and my husband has a good salary we wouldn't qualify for anything. Also you were locked in to monthly payments.

DD goes twice a week. She started in year 4, now in year 5. DS used to, year 6/7. All the children seem to love it, there is lots of positive encouragement, you can go at your own speed, and we use Childcare Vouchers (even though DW is an SAHM). I would certainly recommend it.

ds1 (in yr 1) goes to one. He's got a natural aptitude for maths, but his school have basically opted out of teaching him because "he can already do everything he needs to for year 1" (and year 2 and year 3 if the assessments they've done at Explore are correct). As the school aren't prepared to stretch him, and going private isn't an option, then we see this as a kind of compromise solution. He calls it "computer club" and has to be dragged away at the end of his sessions there.
