Haywards Heath Primaries

We are moving to Haywards Heath this summer and will be looking to get 2 places in a local primary school for our sons (Y3&Y5). Are all the schools horribly over subscribed? What will the local authority do if they can’t give us a place in Haywards Heath?
Any advice welcome!

Also to add we’ll be in the catchment for Warden Park primary, Harlands & St Wilfred’s.

Haywards Heath is lucky in that all the schools are good, just each with their own quirks. There are lots of little village schools surrounding Haywards Heath so you may be offered those and again, most of those are lovely too and although a short drive away, have many merits to them.

They are all good. A few years ago Warden Park Primary was the worst but it’s good now. If you want Warden Park secondary as opposed to Oathall just be careful where you live..

Thank you both for your comments.

@ClarasZoo
I do have my eye on warden park academy for secondary. I’ve checked the admissions criteria and warden park primary is a feeder. I understand there is a list of criteria but in your experience does that mean a child is likely to get a place there? Thank you for you insight.

Sorry not sure as I am not local any more but local authorities usually have a document that shows you the last category admitted and if the primary is a feeder school I reckon you should be fine…

To be fair to Oathall, I have known many, many children go there and thrive and this is equal with Warden Park. I don’t have a link with either of them so I’m pretty mutual. Some schools suit some kids better 🤷🏻‍♀️ Warden Park is presented as the more academic but Oathall is in no way the poor relation.

@PathOfLeastResitance thank you, yes I have been hearing lots of great things about Oathall. We really just need some good options to choose from as of course every child is different so what suits one won’t necessarily suit another.

Thank you everyone for your replies. Relocating is stressful stuff.

To be honest, it’ll be fine wherever around Haywards Heath. In the town they’re great and the village schools are too. Yes, some kids prefer others but you won’t know until they’re there.
