How do I find out what age my ds starts full days at school?

I'm sure this is obvious but I don't know!
He is starting at the school nursery next week doing afternoons, from what I understand he will do afternoons, then mornings, then full days, but don't know when! Does anyone know who can tell me - don't want to appear daft and have to ask the school as I feel I should know already!

Check their website

It will be individual to the school or LEA

Isn't it on your paperwork? Assuming you've had an induction session? If its anything like our school they change their settling in periods every couple of years, so Ithink you will have to check with the school.

in our LEA they produce a booklet about school admissions saying when children start full time. The school might have a copy, or if you can find a phone number you might have to ask the LEA/council.

In our area no child does full-time nursery, and it depends on their birthday when they start full-time reception. So ds2 (3 last July) won't go full-time until next Jan, having done a term of half-days in reception. But it does depend on the area.

No it doesn't give the dates on the paperwork, it is more of a little book for ds. Will have a look for a website and if no luck check with school I guess. Think it may be same for whole lea so will find out thanks.

do you mean when he will start ful time school?
I always thought that legally a child had to be in full tiome school the first term after they turned 5
so that would mean he will go in january after his 5th birthday

sorry if thats not what you mean
also if I'm completely wrong lol

Hi, where we live in Lincs, our school has three intakes each year and my little girl who was three in Dec will start in Jan 09 going fulltime within two weeks of starting.

But the school in the next village along she would still start in Jan 09 but afternoons only till the Sept.

I would suggest you ring the school direct and ask.

They start school the team before there 5th birthday. But just to make things more complicated they don't have to start school till the tearm after their 5th birthday .
Some place have 2 intakes a year September and January but I think more the norm is 1 intake in September.
DD school had two intakes September is children 5th birthday between 1st sep - 28th feb. Jan intake is 5th birthady between 1st mar- 31st aug.
Hope this helps you.

Some time before the term after he turns 5 - each school's policy will vary so ask .
