Rather depends on reading level. The above are the books that got my DD reading around that age.

The Boffin Boy books.

How confident a reader is he? There's a big gaps between Boffin Boy and the Wizard of Edo and How to train your dragon, although they're aimed at the same sort of age range.

Are you looking for books to read to him, or books for him to read independently/ to you?

wedontneedno · 02/03/2022 13:31

Both!

Beast Quest. You can start by reading them to him and when he's hooked he'll want to read them by himself.

Ds was properly addicted to them for a couple of years....

Hello you could try this book for/with him it's new out and available on kindle and paperback by a self published author. It's a fun book to read. I'll add the link below if you would like to have a look. Thanks for reading :)

Santa Claws https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09TMVHT49/ref=cmswwrcppapiglttiBCWYGB01GQ9VZQTESR3C??encoding=UTF8&psc=1

To read to him? Edge Chronicles

CrabbyCat · 04/03/2022 20:16

What sort of stories does he like? DS doesn't like a lot of the above as he doesn't like 'silly'. I know a lot of kids do, but if it's not your DS's cup of tea then successes for my DS include the colour short books of the Faraway Tree and the Wishing Chair (they are excerpts, and then got him into reading the full versions). He also likes Clever Polly and the Stupid Wolf, various Dick King Smith books and the Michael Morpugo Mudpuddle Farm books.
