OK after recently being let down we now have a problem. So please help me with some ideas. What do you all do and how did you find it?
Thanks

Have you tried calling the Council's Childcare Info Service?

TheBlonde · 03/01/2008 13:29

Childminder?

HuwEdwards · 03/01/2008 13:30

Our school does breakfast club and after school club.

ChippyMinton · 03/01/2008 13:32

Can you or your OH change your working hours?
Does school have breakfast/after-school club?

LadyMuck · 03/01/2008 13:34

Au pair if you are happy with live-in.
Childminder or clubs if not. Down to convenience, what you do in school hols and whether your child likes larger groups or not.

If you ask your school office/secretary they may hold details of local carers (extended schools - access to information)

Thanks all
CIS pretty crap they aren't allowed to tell you anyones Ofsted number so you can' find out anything about them without ringing. Also wont tell you which schools they pick up/drop off at. Of the 6 I tried before Christmas (before we were let down it's a never ending saga) 4 were essentially wrong numbers. Can't find a childminder longer than 8-6, no breakfast club after school only until .
School wont hold any records (have asked last term). Ladymuck we're in London so can barely afford somewhere for us to live in never mind an aupair
Chippy can only change working hours in my dreams, actually this is hopefully only a temporary problem since planned job moves havn't been able to be pulled off in time, our carefully planned rotating job dance is going to clash for 3 weeks and we really need help.
My first choice was mothers help/aupair type person since would quite like some extra help after the 3 weeks!! Ho hum have just been discussing with dh how many times a week we reckon we can take turns booking essential appointments at 530pm (thereby officially after working hours but still early ehough for us to need to leave on time IYSWIM) without people we work with twigging!!
Thanks guys

Sounds like the CIS person was being useless

Online you can search by school pickup and when they sent me a list of CMs it gave the school info

1dilemma · 05/01/2008 01:36

umm I'm in a different LA though! I will look again in mone and maybe try searching in yours however I think I'm just that bit too far.

However fluky phonecall this afternoon means we might be sorted (or at least partially) keep telling dh off who seems to think it will all be my responsibility, asked him twice today if there was any particular day he couldn't leave work on time said no both times, only to turn round 10 minutes later and tell me he couldn't leave work on time at all after next week!!!!
