YouTube or Apps for phonics sounds - Year 2

DS(7) is behind in his reading (green level) and after an update meeting with his teacher she has given me a list of phonics sounds that he needs more work on, so she wants us to provide extra support at home for these specific sounds.

She has given us some ideas but I’d also like to consider looking at some YouTube videos or perhaps Apps that we can search for these specific sounds on to help him, so I wondered if anyone had any recommendations please? We already have access to Teach Your Monster but he is bored with that plus I want to be able to search for sounds like -

x, qu
ay, ie, oy, ir, wh, ey
a_e
i_e
o_u

I would just like another medium for being able to explain these sounds if that’s possible.

There are some absolutely brilliant videos on youtube, actual teachers doing phonics sessions on different sounds from when children were learning from home.
I would search for whichever phonics scheme his school uses and i'm sure there will be a wealth of videos :)
My daughter doesn't really like apps but she will happily watch videos of phonics and maths on youtube!

Watching with interest, as we’ve just had similar feedback in Year 1.

DD enjoys reading eggs but it’s really not great for focusing on specific phonics sounds and no good at all for digraphs.

I’m going to go on the Five Minute Mum website and dig out some phonics games from there (I’ve been putting it off because it’ll be more effort than an app Grin)

My kids watched Geraldine Giraffe and Abi Online Teach on YouTube. Quite annoying but they liked watching the videos!

I highly recommend the free sounds write courses for parents to help their child with reading and writing https://www.udemy.com/course/help-your-child-to-read-and-write/ https://www.udemy.com/course/help-your-child-to-read-and-write-part-2/

Ah just seen this is an old thread resurrected.

I know it's an old thread, but for anybody else looking, Little Wandle were funded by the government to make videos of lessons of all the sounds available during lockdown. They are here for year 1 lettersandsounds.org.uk/index.php?page=year-1 , there's also a series to cover reception. You can pick which videos to play by the sounds they cover, from memory each is about 20 minutes.
