Xmas gift for teacher what do you think?

I have seen some lovely personalised Xmas tree decorations for teachers for Christmas that say things along the lines of 'Merry Christmas Miss Jones, Love George Year 1 2021'
Or 'Wishing the best Teacher Mrs Jones a very merry Christmas and happy new year from George'
I think they are cute but are there any teachers out there who can be honest would you actually appreciate receiving one of these and put it on the tree or would it be one of those gifts that stay boxed?!

I wouldn't put it on my tree at home. I don't want to be reminded of work more than is necessary, so I don't put any ornaments given to me by kids out in my home, whether it's Christmas or not.

I'd put it on my classroom tree, though. And keep it to go on each year.

when my kids were little, we often made things for Christmas. Several times we made nice small tree decorations (they were genuinely nice!)

What I noticed was that the teachers put them up in the classroom, and they stayed in the classroom, they didn't go home.

I am an ex teacher and I would say from kids gifts, I was pretty ruthless. If I liked it (and in this case fitted my very particular Christmas dec vibe at home) I was happy to take it home and have it at home. If it didn't, then it stayed in classroom, and probably got disposed of at some point.
Don't get me wrong. I loved and appreciated the gifts and the thought behind them, and I always made a point of hanging it up, etc. But when you get lots of things, you would drown at home if you weren't ruthless.

Far and away the best gifts were cards from parents or kids which had a personal note in. When an illiterate Mum painstakingly wrote me a message (spelt wrong and wonky) to say thank you for teaching her son, I treasured it for years as a bookmark.

Not a teacher myself but have a couple of family members who are. All agree that nothing is necessary but if anyone were to give something, a consumable is best. Items like you mentioned stay in school so work well for primary class teachers who will put it up every year on the class tree, personalised plates etc with handprints tend to be discarded and toiletries all donated to charity. Some biscuits/chocs for the staff room are the best gift by far and always enjoyed

Love a good heartfelt note. I have kept all of those.
Personalised usable, stuff gets used in school. I don’t want to be reminded of work at home, no matter how much I love the kids.
