Dear Knowledgeable Parents,

I'm looking for anyone who knows about St Anthony's School for Girls in Golders Green.
I'm particularly interested in the pastoral care and friendships between the girls there.
I am looking to join in Year 2 and Year 4

Many thanks for your advice.

Hi! I am looking to join in reception and nursery. We liked it a lot but a bit worried about the class being a bit too small. Also, I think they don’t have camps on holidays, have you heard anything else? Would love to hear your views!

Avoid any Alpha Plus school like the plague is my advice

We have friends that have girls there currently (current Y1 and Y3). They only have great things to say about the school. The class sizes are very small, but it seems that they strongly encourage girls to all be friends and wait for each other at play time. Their girls have really flourished since changing from another leading girls’ school in North London.
Not aware of holiday camps at the school itself, however there are a lot in the area (King Alfred, Active Day Camps etc).

Sounds like a blanket statement. Why do you say that without further comment?
FoggySpecs · 06/01/2022 21:37

Alpha Plus is a business, schools should not be there to make profit, they will never invest in your child in the same way a school that is not profit making will.

Agree with @FoggySpecs. Given the choice wouldn't choose a profit-making business. DSS has been in one of the group schools, things like having to go skiing to Canada @£3k cost v under £1k in Europe is annoying for parents but yet another way for them to make a little extra

@Schoolsear I am looking to join in reception, were you able to find out more about the school?

The leavers destinations is impressive. Anyone knows if the girls achieved those results thanks to tutoring or was it all the school?

Schoolsear · 17/01/2022 22:10

Hi, not much, but I think the small ratio of teachers/ girls says a lot. I would like them to have a better , more inspiring library, and a couple of other minor things but overall we loved it and is one of our top two choices (the other is ASL as we are US)

Anca123456 · 18/01/2022 12:27

I like it a lot as well, I would say the small class size is a plus. My daughter is quiet and emotional, it would work great for her. I've felt like the facilities aren't impressive and the playground is small but is a small school and they have Golders Green park next door. (My other option is St Mary's Hampstead)

Schoolsear · 18/01/2022 13:43

Yes, same here. I am not worried about my daughters academic ability but even though I am sure she will adapt to bigger classes, I think she might be happier and thus flourish more in a small group. Please email me if you would like to meet for coffee [email protected] (no doubt we will be in the same class if we both pick SA)
