Teacher sharing images on SM

Morning I've stumbled across images of children including my own on Twitter from a teachers personal Twitter account and I feel a little uneasy about this. Does anyone know the rules and regs around this ? The school itself does have its own account so I'm not sure why it wasn't posted through that account. I know that there are several children who most definitely should not have their pictures posted ever and I cannot see anything in the schools policies about SM. TIA

@TizerorFizz

The Complaints Policy should have a timeline. So an acknowledgement and then time to investigate etc. However the Head should respond immediately in my view.
15 days to respond. But I'm think you're right there should've been an urgent response considering the nature of the issue.

Yes. I think most Heads would do an acknowledgment and explain what happens next. It seems communication is very poor at your school!

It has been one of the biggest issues I've had with them, certainly the most long running one. By now I'd expect they'd know the outcome of the inspection.

When was feedback to head/chair due?

I was told I'd hear back in 15 days. Regarding the inspection it will either be available online in 15 days or can take up to 28 days depending on grading.

Don’t the inspectors feedback to staff these days? I have to say I haven’t read the Ofsted framework for years! My bedtime reading is a bit more varied these days!

Ofsted will have fed back and graded them today at the end of the inspection however the school are not allowed to disclose the grading until the official report comes out.

I've received my response that it was human error. The pictures were taken on a school device however they never ever should have been posted on the teachers personal account. Now the response is a bit muddled as it states it was uploaded onto the schools account which it wasn't so I've requested information on how this human error happened to be as the teacher has then accessed their own personal social media account using a school device also tagging the school in the post which I would've thought would've alerted to them that they were on the wrong account.

@glitterelf

What are you hoping to achieve now?

They’ve admitted human error, it’s been removed I’m sure they’ve apologised?

Personally I would leave it be now, the teacher must be mortified and stressed and learnt a lesson

I would like to know what they are going to do to ensure it doesn't happen again and what their policy is regarding staff accessing personal social media accounts using school devices. If I posted the actual response here you'd understand why I'm miffed and pushing for further clarification, however I won't post the response here for obvious reasons.

I agree OP. Saying it's human error isn't enough. They need to show they're taking steps to make sure it doesn't happen again, and that the staff member has understood the issue.

TizerorFizz · 30/11/2021 17:12

It’s easy to say someone made a mistake when the result of the mistake could be catastrophic. This is a data breach and the school doesn’t seem to understand it. It’s a question of ethos in school. Knowing right from wrong. It cannot just be swept under the carpet. It’s interesting they have managed to produce a report in the wake of the Ofsted visit.

glitterelf · 30/11/2021 17:33

Honestly the response didn't just concern this issue but other issues. The stance seems to be to make stuff up and when I say make stuff up I'm talking blatant lies, blame human error and a measly apologies for any distress caused no acknowledgement of how serious this issue alone is. No recommendations of actions they will put into place.
No word yet on the outcome of Ofsted although I'm not expecting it to be good.

I think it’s crass leadership! Rot starts at the top. It’s the ethos of the school and poor accountability to the school community. I guess the ofsted report won’t be out for weeks!

It will be out just before Christmas was rated good at last inspection dread to think what they will be graded this time though. You are totally right about the leadership the actual teachers and teaching assistants are fab and I really cannot fault them I just wish they had a supportive senior team who actually communicate with parents and resolve issues instead of trying to repeatedly brush them under the rug.
