Any teachers / tutors who can help with some questions?

I've started a couple of other threads about my ds who's been flagged as having some issues with his writing and spelling. He's not got any obvious sen, but we're keeping an eye out.

His main issue seems to be focus and being able to order his thoughts. So for example, he'll forget finger spaces, full stops and capitals.

We've started to do targeted work at home with rewards and he seems to be responding well to that, but I'm so worried about him falling behind. I'd love to have a tutor help him with this (just so it's not us!) but can't find anyone about.

In the absence of that happening, we'll do it ourselves. So, can anyone help with how long we should work for? What should we be concentrating on? I've bought a load of phonics flash cards and books to work through, so we just do those systematically or is there a better way of organising it? For example, write 2 sentences, read back, then correct? And then do a few spellings for example?
Are there any books that are particularly good at helping to reaffirm the basics and then build up from? He does seem to know his phonics but then seems to forget or not quite sure how to apply some of it.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

You could try a workbook or two.

How old is he?

I’d start with visual cues-if it’s always capital letters, full stops and finger spaces that’s the problem at the moment, I’d have a mat next to him with pictures of those things on as reminders and give regular prompts to look at his mat.

He's just 7. Year 2
