We're about to move between London boroughs and will need to move DS in Y1. The school we want have confirmed they have 'plenty' of space (won't specify number of free spaces).
Both our borough and the new borough say in their guidance that out of borough applications should be made direct to the LA where the school is located. The new borough requires various proofs of address (which will take a while to collate re the new address once we move) and has been unhelpful when asked if e.g. we can submit a solicitor's letter confirming the purchased address.
We're just waiting for a date to exchange (few enquiries left to finalise), and then expect to complete about a week after that. The new LA is said to be slow at processing applications, though the admissions lady at the new school has said she'll help chase them once the application is in.
My question is, shall we apply now, with proof of address docs for our current address? If I understand the process correctly, it doesn't matter where we are so long as there's no one competing with us on distance? The two areas are commutable between, but would prefer not to do it for very long!
Thoughts? Am I missing anything? Thanks in advance for your collective wisdom!
